North Shore Poke Co. in Huntington Beach is one of my favorite places to eat when I’m looking for something light. Poke has become so popular in California these past several years it’s almost become a staple of SoCal. You can find them in sushi restaurants as well, they’re a nice alternative to rice heavy rolls.
The sandwich came out on a nicely toasted ciabatta roll. It was an excellent balance to the sweet flavors of the papaya dressing and creamy avocado. The crispy toasted crust was such a nice texture when mixed with the soft filling. The ahi is great, but much more subtle than more traditional sandwich proteins, so you may want to ask for a little more sauce. I made the mistake of eating Hawaiian BBQ Kettle chips as a side which really overpowered some of the principle flavors.
Overall, North Shore Poke Co is a nice Hawaiian inspired menu perfect for all you beach goers. The surroundings match it’s simple and understated flavors. Consider this a great spot for those summer days at the beach.
