When people talk about the city of Laguna Niguel, the subject of food rarely comes up. I spent most of my childhood here and it’s never been a hot spot for interesting food. Recently, I’ve noticed more eclectic options moving in and Deemer’s American Grill is among the best. Their claim to fame is a great burger with a lot of options but I think it’s safe to assume that most things on their menu is good (based on what I tried).
The beauty of most burger menus is that you have a level of customization that you don’t get with a lot of other dishes. Deemer’s list of ingredients is excellent with some great flavorful options, but if you’re as lazy as I am, you can order from their “favorites” menu.
I don’t use the term “Visual Impact” very often, because I feel like someone would throw a shoe at me in disgust; but there is a visual impact to Deemer’s Burger that you don’t see at a lot of places. Putting the vegetables under the meat is unorthodox because it cooks them and makes them soggy, but it works nicely with the arugula. The caramelized Angus patty and melted gouda was a great combination of nutty and buttery flavors. The bacon onion jam is a little sweet, but an excellent compliment to the cheese. Honestly, there isn’t a lot about this burger that I can criticize.
Alright, now that I’m done gushing, here are Deemer’s burger favorites (click the photo to enlarge):
Next time, I’m trying the Napa Burger (with goat cheese and basil pesto). If you want to see the full menu; click on the thumbnail below:
