It’s been a months long commitment, but I am trudging along trying to find some of the best chicken sandwich spots on Orange County. I might have eaten fried chicken sandwiches every weekend for the past two months (It’s a rough life). The District in Tustin is a large shopping center with several sandwiches places to choose from. Spice-C is a hot chicken restaurant next to AMC theaters. Like most of the chicken spots that have been opening up, they focus solely on fried chicken tenders with a handful of sides.

Bread
Of all the buns that I have had at chicken restaurants in Orange County, the one at Spice-C may be the most unremarkable. That’s not to say that it’s bad, but there really isn’t much to write about it. It does help soak up some of the spice, which will keep those fingers a bit more clean.
Filling
I have had my fair share of hot chicken sandwiches lately and this one is the hottest. I always order medium spice and most of the restaurants tend to keep it pretty balanced. The concentration of spices on this chicken is THICK, the hot glaze soaks into your fingers and onto the bread. It’s so strong that it overpowers the slaw and pickles, so you fans of the heat may enjoy these tenders more than other places.
Sauce
The Spice-C comeback sauce is one of my favorites so far. It’s especially nice as a dip for the hot chicken, because it helps to cool down those peppers a bit. It kind of reminds me of a slightly sweeter version of Raising Cane’s sauce. For those of you who want a little more sweet (which is perfect for these) ask for some honey and take full advantage of the slice of bread they give you.
Price
A meal of one slider with one chicken tender and fries is $12.50. The portion is alright for what you’re paying, but there are places that are more generous. It’s still worth your time to try, especially if you’re looking for burning hot chicken.
